Whitacre Heath this morning ,Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (2), Green Sandpiper (1 over, heading towards flashes/ladywalk), Wheatear (1 male), Curlew (1), Oystercatcher (2), Redwing (10+), Fieldfare (60+) (J Wesson). 23 Goosanders roosted this evening at Shustoke (S Seal).

Brambling..........Whitacre .........(Midland Bird Images).

At Coton Lake this morning 3 adult Kittiwakes and the first winter Little Gull, the Kittiwkes flew off North at 8-30. (J Fincham , M Yapp). The Little Gull was still present at mid-day. On Lea Marston Lake the pair of Scaup were still present viewed from the road bridge (Birdguides). And at Whitacre the Siskin total has now reached 32 at the feeding station, also Brambling fem, Willow Tit, Lesser Redpoll 11, and 5 Curlew on the flashes (J Wesson). Little Egret at Middleton Hall and Cetti's still at Fisher's mill.(J Harris).Male Lesser Spotted Woodpecker in wood alongside entrance drive to Middelton Hall this afternoon, (G Williams).Also a Lesser Spotted Woody seen at Whitacre this afternoon also Little Egret by the railway line viewed from the road bridge.(J Wesson). 22 Goosanders roosted at Shustoke Res this evening (B Kington).

Little Gull (1w).......Coton Lake.......(Midland Bird Images).

The first winter Little Gull was still present today at Coton Lake , in very strong winds the bird could be found hawking insects from along side the footpath towards the hide. Also seen 15 Sand Martin, Merlin seen twice, Oystercatcher and a Little Egret. (B Duckhouse, D Hutton, S Seal). Brambling (female) breifly this morning at Whitacre (J Jennings). Brandon Marsh 14 Sand Martin, 2 Ringed Plover, 2 Oystercatcher, and a Chiffchaff (D McIntosh).

A Marsh Harrier reported over Brandon Marsh around mid-day (Birdguides), on flooded fields east of Lea Marston one Little Egret again next to the railway line viewed from road bridge (S Seal). Little Gull (2cy) at Lea Marston / Coton Lake also the pair of Scaup still present (J Oates, T Perrins).Nearby at Marsh Lane 22 Sand Martins, 5 Chiffchaff and 4 Ravens over , (N Barlow). In Draycote roost this evening , adult Kumliens Gull , 3w Iceland and 1w Glaucous Gull (R Mays).

Adult Kumliens Gull off hensborough bank, third winter Iceland Gull and 4 adult summer Med Gulls. Also present were Raven 2, Chiffchaff 2 and Fieldfare.

Lesser Spotted Woodpecker briefly this morning at Seeswood Pool at far end of the pool in mature trees, (C Green). Nearby at Marsh Lane a 2nd win Yellow Legged Gull, juv Common Gull,3 Ringed plover, 4 Redshank,2 Oyst, 2 Shelduck, Goldeneye, 57Wigeon, Chiffchaff , 18 Pied Wagtail, 4 Meadow Pipit, Tree Sparrow , (J Harris). A lot of disturbance today at Whitacre due to work party but still 2 Bramblings (male & fem), 3 Siskin , 6 Lesser Redpoll, 2 Willow Tit, Chiffchaff (singing), 1 Water Rail, and 2 Curlew viewed from the road bridge, (J Wesson).

In the roost this evening 3w Iceland Gull and 1w Glaucous Gull (R Mays).

A pair of Scaup at Shustoke this afternoon, also Little Owl, Grey Wagtail, 2 Chiffchaff and 6 Goosanders (B Kington, S Seal, D Hutton). 20 Golden Plover, Blind Pit lane Wishaw (5+)in full summer plumage. Singing Chiffchaff KWP 2 along canal and 1 by Broomey Croft carpark. (J Harris). Over Hemlingford Water Kingsbury this morning around 70 Sand Martins ( B Kington).At nearby Marsh Lane 10 Sand Martins, 4 Chiffchaffs and a 2w Yellow Legged Gull (N Barlow).A pair of Brambling at Whitacre feeding station today (T Melton , N Kightley).At Draycote this afternoon 12 Goldeneye, 6 Goosander, 5 Gadwall, 4 Sand Martins, 2 Shoveler, 2 Buzzards, Siskin, Little Owl and the first House Martin of the year.(R Mays).

Whitacre Heath NR 9-45 this morning, Brambling (female), 15 Siskin, 9 Lesser Redpoll, 1 Willow Tit and a female Stonechat on fence posts viewed from the field hide (J Wesson).Wheatear male by mineral fisheries at Bulkington 13-00 in horse paddock (D Booth).Two Little Egrets on flood water next to the railway line at Lea Marston viewed from roadbridge at 14-45, a female Brambling in car park at Kingsbury (S Seal). 24 Goosanders roosted at Shustoke and a Barn Owl their late evening ( B Kington).Wheatear from Baldwin Hide Brandon this afternoon (G Griffiths).Pair of Scaups still present this afternoon at Lea Marston lake, and good numbers of Sand Martins present at KWP - probably 50+ over Broomycroft Pool.(J Oates).

Dark-Bellied Brent Goose circling, Shelduck 4, Iceland Gull third winter left 7am. Avocet off farborough bank landing on water then flushed by fishing boats, Wheatear male valve tower. (R Mays). Sand Martin 37 (P Hyde)

Mar 14th.

At Whitacre Heath today 2 Curlew on the flashes, 2 Stonechats , and a Sand Martin along the river (J Hoyles). At Draycote this morning a Barn Owl by the sewage farm, a female Scaup in toft, Raven and 2 Curlew over and a male Stonechat on the fence below farnborough bank. (R Mays). Little Egret at Ladywalk and a male Goosander along the river and at Shustoke Res 15 Goosanders, (S Seal).

Draycote roost Mar 14th

In the roost this evening were juv Glaucous Gull, 3rd winter Iceland Gull and a presumed 2nd winter Glaucous x Herring Gull. (J. Judge R. Mays)

Lesser Scaup Alvecote Mar 14th.

A drake Lesser Scaup was found this morning by (D Pratt), at Alvecote Pools the bird was still present at 17-00 hours and showing well; the bird is located at the north end of Mill Pool and can be easily viewed from the bridge at the end of Laundry Lane,it is loosely associating with Tufted Ducks .
